April Ross
April Ross has won more than one medal at the Olympics. She is one of the few female beach volleyball players that have achieved this feat. Alix klineman, who is taking part for the very first time at Tokyo's Olympic Games and will attempt to win her third medal. Ross's dream is to earn her first Olympic gold medal. This may be the last time she has the chance at age 39. However, she's convinced that top prizes can be achieved. Ross stated to NBC Boston that if they are at their absolute best and even play well her team will be able to win the gold medal. Also, it's an issue of luck. Ross was born in California in Costa Mesa, California in 1982. She lived here with her father, mother and sibling. Apart from participating in a variety of sports, Ross also attended Newport Harbor High School. The prep sports she played included indoor volleyball along with basketball as well as track and running. However, she was a standout in this sport. In her time at high school, she was a middle blocker outside hitter and setter on the volleyball court per her college bio. Gatorade Circle Of Champions named her the national Player in 1999. The year 2000 was the time she was awarded her the Orange County Athlete of the Year award in volleyball. Ross and Klineman might be working on a project in the year 2017, however Ross had already been a seasoned player at the beach before they teamed up. She has won major competitions with different players. One of them is an iconic player in the world of volleyball. From 2007 until 2013 she was in a partnership with Jennifer Kessy, who is now her coach. Along with Kessy Ross, she won a World Title in 2009 while competing on the international circuit. The 2012 Olympic Games, they won a gold medal. The legendary Misty Maytreanor team and Kerri Jennings were the winners of gold. Ross became Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's resignation. They won the bronze medal in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross participated in the Trojans at USC during her college years after she graduated high school. She had a great run during her time in college. In 2000 she was named Pac-10 Freshman and NCAA Freshman Of The Year. She was also named an All-American. The team also saw her help in helping the Trojans to make it to the Final Four. She was devastated through a tragedy in her life during her second year, but she managed to become an All-American in her second year. In her last two seasons in the Trojans team the team was led to victories by winning the national title in consecutive years. For her part she established herself in the history books by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This award was given to the best female college volleyball players in the country. Ross was a student of international relations at USC. Sadly, Ross mother Margie did not get to see Ross's daughter reach the very top of beach volleyball stardom. Ross's mom passed away due to breast cancer when she was a sophomore in USC. But, she will always keep her mother's memory close and close. Margie at the beach as well as in her everyday life, inspires her.
